Conocidas inicialmente como Vans #36, las Old Skool debutaron en 1977 con una novedad única: un dibujo aleatorio realizado por el fundador Paul Van Doren, y que originalmente se conocía como la “franja de jazz”. Hoy, la famosa Vans Sidestripe se ha convertido en el sello distintivo inconfundible (y reconocible al instante) de la marca Vans.
